How to get there : By plane : The Faaa-Papeete international airport (code PPT) is the hub for air transportation, to get to from abroad as well as to fly to the nearby islands. By boat : The port of Papeete is the focal point of all sea traffic, whether international or inter-island by ferries. For this, there are several companies offering sea transportation on freighters, catamarans, fast boats and cruise ships.

A must: Even during a very short stay, you should spend at least one day in Moorea, Tahiti's sister island, located only 17 kilometers (11 miles) across from Papeete. you can get there by plane in a 10-minute flight, with Air Moorea from the Faaa airport, or in 30 minutes with a fast cataraman from Papeete.
