Gauguin's
grandson Marcel
must have inherited something from his famous ancestor. His specialy is copies. He
is presently holding an exhibition of his reproductions of the works of Paul Gauguin
in his workshop on Tahiti's west coast.
Marcel
Gauguin, you can't find a better name when you work in the world of art. And it is
deserved, since
this is the grandson of the great painter who died in 1903 in the Marquesas. From
his grandfather, Marcel inherited his love for the arts. His specialty, as one could
have expected, is reproduction. He presently shows reproductions of Paul Gauguin's
work in his Faa'a workshop on Tahiti's West coast. With
the help of Farina Viera, a very talented copier, they already reproduced nearly
200 paintings by
the Master, on the basis of many catalogues and other books about Gauguin, mostly
to reproduce the "right" colors that were such a challenge to his time's
criteria.
For
the two friends, the objective is to create an initiation collection to better
introduce the public to Gauguin's work, namely in the Polynesia's schools. But
the posibility of exporting their work throughout the world in the form of a traveling
exhibition remains their great project. They already made some contacts, mainly in
Europe, to complete this fabulous project...
