Dolphin & Whale Encounters
A luxurious 34-foot barge makes it possible to observe comfortably the activities of the dwellers of the undersea depths of Moorea, namely the whales,

With the start of the whales season, the whole world will again look at our islands and come in crowds to observe this cetaceans' strange ballet, In the Austral Islands (Polynesia's Southernmost archipelago), sometimes in he Leeward Islands, but also in Moorea and in Tahiti where whales, sharks stingrays and dolphins are not shy about showing themselves. There is a unique experience in Polynesia to go in search of the local underwater world. Have you of Dr. Poole? No, this is not about the latest fashionable Hollywood series, but about a highly colorful character, somehow enigmatic, totally in love with Polynesia. His silhouette is often seen around Moorea.

Since 1987, Michael Poole, a PhD in Marine Biology, spends most of his time near “his” sharks, dolphins and whales along the coastline of Moorea, where most of his activities have been concentrated. In 1992, in order to finance his research work in marine biology, he opened a sea life observation center for tourists wishing to see “live” magnificent specimens of the local undersea world. For this, he equipped a large 34-foot barge to sit his passengers under the best of conditions. Comfortably installed in the shade of the wide canopy, the passengers can observe, communicate with, and photograph the activities of the dwellers of the depths of Moorea, namely whales, dolphins, rays and sharks. Self-converted into a tour guide, Dr. Poole, is insatiable on his favorite subjects, marine animals of course, but also corals and the geological history of the island of Moorea, without forgetting some local anecdotes. Undersea “visits” with the necessary equipment (supplied by your hosts) are arranged for the most adventurous. For those who are less daring, the observation of Moorea’s marine world while sipping a drink made from local fresh fruits (pineapples, grapefruits, oranges, lemons, etc.) remains an unforgettable moment. Camcorders or cameras in hand, here your souvenirs will come to life! Do not miss this unique experience in Moorea.
