TAHITI PEARL REGATTA 2010
Festivities and the wind were in the program of the 2010 Tahiti Pearl Regatta.

During five days, the "TPR" (this is the abbreviation that it is now known under all over the world), made the many participants, local and foreign, with a few exciting regatta and mostly memorable evenings.
From May 11 to 16, sailing fans got together for a now famous unavoidable meeting between Raiatea, Tahaa and Bora Bora. And for once, the wind was in the party, bringing its share of thrills and pleasure to all the crews.
While the unbeatable Hervé Bride and his occasional crew didn't leave any resting time to their adversaries while winning all five programmed regattas, this didn't waste the fun for all the others, and namely for our "visitors". From one year to the next these visitors are coming in greatest numbers from the whole planet to live an intense experience. What is important, at the heart of the Leeward Island, is not to win, but really to participate, to life fully its five days of a crazy sport but above all human adventure.
Indeed when the sun sets for these gods of the ocean (and of the lagoons) after the day's beautiful naval fights, from Tahaa to Bora Bora, and of course to Raiatea, evenings and nights are long and colorful.
In the islands, over 200 active participants met their hosts who gave them a traditional welcome. Giant meals, dances, folklore, arts and crafts, traditions and customs, the whole range is present for celebrate the visitors from the sea. …
And when at 3:00 AM, the last echoes of the party fade away, it is time for each one to enjoy a well deserve rest before next day's race. Then we see the smiles on the faces of most of these weather beaten and still sleepy sailors, it brings happiness to Polynesia, which there lives its big hope while dreaming of the return of a well deserved tourism.
Ah, the South Seas, they haven't changed much. You just have to come and see for yourself...
