SOCCER
Marama Vahirua, and a new paddle on the side of Nancy.

When you come from Tahiti, it is not easy to make a name in France's soccer championship.
Year after year with a lot of work and serious training the Tahitian Marama Vahirua has earned his rank and became the League's second best pass player in 2009-2010.

After a few years of training in Nantes, Marama went to Nice, under the supervision of a coach who was able to discover his qualities and made him the game leader. Pablo Correa, the le steaming coach of AS Nancy-Lorraine, now gives him the opportunity to distinguish himself in a team decided to be one of the best on the fields with an experienced leader. His transfer from Lorient to Eastern France made the front page of French soccer news. While waiting to show his talents, like his uncle Pascal Vahirua who distinguished himself with the Auxerre team and the French team (22 selections), Marama is confident to play for Nancy, strengthened by his experience and his love of the "beautiful game".

Years have certainly gone by and today at 30, Marama no longer considers being selected in the National team. But who knows? After the "unbelievable" performance of the French team during the World Cup, the new coach, Laurent Blanc, is looking for brand new elements to constitute his new team. And despite his age, the Tahitian is at his peak, as he reinforces his physical qualities, one of the Polynesian's rare weaknesses. Marama was perhaps not in the new "Blues" first game, but the coach still has time to discover the "pearl" that will lead France to victory. A black pearl of course! From Tahiti to Nancy and why no, in France's National team! Let's wish him good luck.
