Society Islands - Windward Islands

Fakarava: A Robinson Crusoe like experience on an atoll populated with people living in perfect harmony with the sea. Exceptional diving. The former capital of the Tuamotu Islands.
Arutua, Anaa, Takaroa, Napuka, Makemo, Hao, etc... So many Tuamotu atolls accessible by plane or by boat and which reserve to their visitors a fantastic experience of total isolation and communion with the islanders. Small guest houses in the people's houses are available in all these atolls.
Mangareva (Gambier Archipelago): Pearl farms about 2,000 km from Tahiti and a gigantic cathedral standing witness of durable evangelisation.
Marquesas
Hiva Oa: Two famous men lived and are buried there: singer-poet Jacques Brel, who died in 1978, and painter Paul Gauguin, who died in 1903.
Hiva Oa: It is also on this island that you will find giant tiki, the tallest ones in Polynesia.
Nuku Hiva: In Taiohae, visit the cathedral of the end of the world and in Hatiheu, discover the mysterious petroglyphs. Meet also the best scupltors in the Marquesas.
Fatu Hiva: Discover the craftsmen who make probably the most beautiful tapa in Polynesia.
Ua Huka: The Hane Valley where are the most ancient remnants of the Ma'ohi civilization (700 A.D.), not to mention the wild horses.
Ua Pou: Admire the basalt columns in Hakahau Bay and pay a visit to the great sculptors in their shops.
Tahuata: Go to Hapatoni through the Royal Way, built in the19th century, to discover one of the most beautiful Polynesian scenery.
Austral Islands
Rurutu: In September, swim with the whales and sleep in the limestone caves of the jagged shores around the island.
Raivavae: An initiation to the typical handicrafts will let you find treasures of Polynesian weaving and sculpture. Exceptional lagoon and motus often unknown.
Tubuai: Let yourself be seduced by a horseback ride in the center of the island and by the exceptional hospitality of its people.
Rapa : Enjoy the coolness of "Southern" evenings and taste its apples, unique in Polynesia. Not easy to get there though.
Rimatara : As far as one can remember, visitors are always greeted with a coconut fire on the beach. This tradition is still alive.
