Polynesia offers many possible excursions and hikes.

In Tahiti, the most appreciated 4 X 4 excursions the Papenoo Valley, Lake Vaihiria (Polynesia's only natural lake).

4 X4 excursions are offered in the islands of Huanine, Moorea, Bora Bora, and Raiatea.

Excursions on foot are also very many in the Polynesian mountains, but they require you to hire a guide, as these hikes are not without danger. The best known excursions are the crossing of Tahiti's peninsula, the Hitiia Lavatubes and Mount Aorai (2,066 m).

One very interesting place is the Farehape archeological site.
