Surfing or bodyboarding are two unavoidable sports in Tahiti. However, rare are the schools on the "Fenua" that offer initiation or improvement classes.
The TURA'I MATAARE surfing school, established in June 1995, was created by Olivier Napias, instructor with a Government-certified 2nd level diploma in surfing.
This passionate teacher gives initiation and advanced classes in both surfing and body boarding. The objective is to allow everyone from age 5 to get initiated and develop skills in these disciplines, in full safety, with proper supervision and quality equipment.

Classes take place on Tahiti's east coast, in a sector ranging between the point of Venus and the mouth of Papeeno. A surfing spot is selected each day, according to weather conditions and the age and skills of the students. Classes are supervised by instructors with Government diplomas such as BEES 1st degree and life guards. All necessary equipment (surf boards and body boards of various sizes, lycra, wax, etc.) are supplied by the school, which also covers transportation within an area between Paea (PK18) and Papeeno (surf spot where the class is taken).

5 ONE WEEK, 1/2 DAY TRAINING SESSION:

Snack, lunch and afternoon snacks. Morning, surfing 8:30AM to 12:00, afternoon, miscellaneous activities with "Envol" education center.

7 CLASSES FOR
"SUPER GROMMET":
Only for childrens 5 to 10.
Classes Friday afternoon 1:30PM to 5:00PM.
Group lessons, minimum 3 persons
Inclusive rates: 9 500 CFP

These classes are dedicated to surfers with adequate skill levels. Students must master basic techniques (take off, bottom turn, speeding, frondside and backside.) Classes are collective, the group includes a minimum of 3 students and maximum of 5 students.
Classes, supervised by Olivier Napias instructor with a 2nd level BEES diploma, take place on

various surfing spots on the island, and particularly various chosen spots of the west coast. A boat is provided to reach spots far away from the shore. Helmet is mandatory for the minors and is provided by the school.

A video camera, tailored advices and tips, and the quality of the spots will allow you to improve your technique.

8 ONE WEEK FULL DAY SESSION:
Group lessons, minimum of 3 persons, maximum of 5 persons.
Monday thru Friday 8:30AM to 5:00PM.

Mataare surf school on the spots of Papenoo, water trampoline, inflatable structure, manual activities, as well as big games organized on the Motu Martin.

The new « MOANALOU TAMARII SURF CAMP » , opened since the school holidays of March 2008.

This " aquatic camp " located on Motu Martin in Mahina,
proposes, every school
holidays, full day week session to discover the surf and the bodyboard on the spots of papenoo as well as of multiple activities organized on Motu Martin.

If the main subject of the proposed training courses remains the aquatic activities and the discovery of the surfing , the Motu Martin, splendidly equipped to welcome children, is perfect to
organize big games as the treasure hunt,
Olympiad, kermess, but also multiple manual activities with the making of diverse objects from the natural environment.

The children will find on Motu an ideal environment, well
ventilated, secured and
appropriate to spend a good week of holidays.
The supervision of the children is assured by fully qualified instructor with experience in the kid animation. The proposed activities are varied, original and renewed regularly. Meals and snack are taken quitely, and included in the week fare.

To allow the children of the west and east coast of Tahiti to get there, the transport of the children is assured from the PK 18 Paea, with several collecting points to the Venus Point in Mahina, meeting point to
embark on Sacha Martin's
boat, via Motu of the same name.
